Animal Selfies!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Enjoying our Crisp, Windy Canadian Winter?  The wind played havoc with our internet lines, but happily we are now up and running!  The animals have had enough of winter too, they want to be outside. They are getting out in the sun...but.....so much snow not much for them to do. The young goats do try their best jumping from snow banks but they don't like falling through!  Poor Patrick was trying his luck on the ice...4 hoof drive buddy, 4 hoof drive!

So what happens when you have bored animals that have tons of personality?  Well they take "selfies" of course!  Here are a few pictures of the animals...hope they bring a smile to your day.

Olde English Babydoll Lamb for Sale

 Patrick February 2014
Hope everyone enjoyed their Family Day yesterday.  It was nice that the weather held out for all of us.  It was a nice day in Maynooth on Saturday as well!  Thanks to all of you that came out to say, "Hi!" I know you are happy with your purchases especially now that the snow has come back.

I am showing a few pictures today of over Babydoll sheep.  As mentioned before both Pearl and Liz have been bred and we are excepting lambs in the Spring.  We highly recommend reserving your lamb.  Our sheep are registered purebred Olde English "Babydoll" Southdowns.  They are miniature sheep.  Babydolls are gentle and quiet in nature, have a strong flocking instinct and are good on fences, neither jumping them or breaking them down. They are contend in small areas.  Babydolls have cute teddy bear faces and make great companions and pets and are ideal for weeding!

Both our girls Pearl and Liz have been bred.  We are expecting both white and or black lambs.  We have very good prices too!

The last picture is of Pearl, Patrick and Liz all enjoying some hay out side.  You can see our Nigerian goat, Jill behind them just to give you an idea of size.  If you would like to come out and see the "flock" please do!  Just give us a call before you do at 705-778-2070. And while you are here you can see the other animals if you like and shop in our store and don't forget to get your farm fresh eggs!

Cashgora Goats

What a beautiful sunny Monday, well deserved after the weekend we had!  Snow, snow and more snow! The ground hog saw his shadow....really, what a surprise!  Another 6 weeks of winter....although at this rate we maybe looking at another 9 at least....ughhhh.

So today a few things to talk about.  First, I will be in Maynooth, February 15, 2014 from 10-4 pm at the library.  I will have knitted and woven hand made goods as well as socks, insoles and yarns made from various fibre.  I may also bring a few decorative barn boards that were made at Elmlea Farm from recycled barn boards some dating back 75 years at least!

And secondly today I am sharing pictures of some Cashgora kids.  We have had a few different breeding at the farm but this one is a breeding of our boy William, who is 75% Angora and 25% Cashmere.  He was bred to one of our registered 100% Angora females, Sunshine, and they produced two babes, Sam and Sally.  The kids are also 75% Angora with 25% Cashmere.  What is the benefit of blending these two fibres?

You take the durability of the silk like fibre of Angora(Mohair) with it's high luster and sheen and combine it with the cashmere that is also light and strong but has an excellent insulation factor.  This blends into a beautiful luxury yarn.  If you are interested in  purchasing fleece, yarn or a finished hand made item, give me a call at 705-778-2070 or email me at elmleaalpacas@gmail.com
