Day 5, Yes five and counting!!!!
Alpaca Days....September 28-29 from 10-5pm.  Come see Diesel strut his stuff in person!

Come one, come all...sorry not Fido though.  We love dogs but too much for them to get into!

We have rearranged the store, lots of freshly hand dyed fibre, in true original colours!
The chickens went on road trip, back on Friday...all ready for the table!
Make sure to order your turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner!  Limited supply.

Alpaca facts:
  1. females are induced ovulaters...meaning they need to see a male to come into season unlike other animals where there is a set breeding cycle
  2. they are very clean animals and like to use the bathroom in certain areas only, not all over the place.  Making for a much easier clean up!

Day 6!!!!  Are you excited????

We certainly are....Alpaca Days are Saturday, September 28th  and Sunday 29th!  We can't wait!

Alpaca Days are an exciting time here, meeting people, sharing our farm family with your family.  It was so much fun last year, looking forward to even more fun this year!  The weather is even looking to cooperate!
Remember not only is the day about Alpacas but also we have the spinning demo, the store with it's assorted goodies ranging from fibre, to clothing to meats and eggs.
So come one come all!!!!  Open from 10-5

And just to keep up with Sir Charles request on Alpaca knowledge:
1.  Alpacas are first cousins to the camel
2.  They only have 1 row of bottom teeth and the top row is referred to as a plate!

Friday, September 20, 2013

By Royal Decree....Sir Charles of Elmlea Farms requests your presence at ALPACA DAYS on September 28 or 29th...he's not picky!  We will be open from 10-5 both days.  We are busily cutting grass and sprucing everything up just for you! So mark your calendars and come see us.

Sir Charles also suggested I list some facts about Alpacas so as you will know "Alpaca" protocol.  See what happens when you put "Sir" in front of an animals name?
1.  Alpacas have hair NOT wool
2.  Alpacas come in 22 naturally occurring colours!

The count down is on!!!!!  Day 10

Come see us, our alpacas, goats, sheep and all our birds from ducks to chickens to turkeys.

We will be having spinning demos and the store is open to all.  Maybe not Lucy!!!!  And by the way no goats were hurt during this photo shoot but..."Lucy, No!!!" could be heard farm wide!!!!

While at the store why not order your Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey?  We have limited quantities, so don't wait.  We also support local farmers and sell beef and other meats.  You can get your farm fresh eggs and chicken here as well.

In the store we have a selection of fibre from yarn to roving to batts to help you create your special home made items, encase you are not quite so crafty why not pick up a hat, mittens or socks for those(hate to say it cold days of winter).

Remember September 28/29.....see you here!!!!

Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble.....

Cauldrons of wild apples for fresh apple sauce...mmmm....
Cauldrons of Alpaca yarn dying....breath taking fall colours.

The charm of dying small lots of yarn is the uniqueness to which each skein turns out.  Each product you create truly has it's own signature.  No one can copy your scarf, or hat completely.
